With afternoon thundershowers predicted, the start time for Stage 2 of the Andorra Epic had to be brought forward by half an hour on Friday, 4 July. Regardless of how much it may rain later, Buff Megamo’s storming performance on the trails is likely to eclipse the weather as they seized the UCI Women’s race lead from Efficient Safari Essence. In the UCI Men’s category, a closely contested stage was won by Singer KTM Racing, while Klimatiza Orbea finished third, 2 seconds back, to maintain their general classification lead.

Stage 2 of the 2025 Andorra Epic Delivers Drama and Tactical Battles
Stage 2 of the 2025 Andorra Epic produced contrasting stories in the UCI Men’s and Women’s races. The 46-kilometre stage, featuring an earlier start due to forecasted weather, saw Buff Megamo’s Rosa van Doorn and Janina Wüst dominate from Pal/Arinsal to La Massana. They overturned a 3:42 deficit to a 2:47 lead over Efficient Safari Essence, putting 6 minutes and 29 seconds into their rivals.

Meanwhile, the men’s race was a tactical affair. Marc Stutzmann and Sebastian Gesche of Klimatiza Orbea shadowed their competition throughout, while Singer KTM Racing’s Simon Stiebjahn and Martin Frey claimed the stage win in a three-team sprint.

Starting high in the Pal/Arinsal Bike Park, the stage featured 1,950 metres of descending and 1,300 metres of climbing. Highlights included the summit of Coll de Cabús at 2,327m and a thrilling descent on the Super Sispony T-Section, before finishing along La Ruta del Ferro.

Van Doorn and Wüst attacked early and by the first time check, 12.5km in, had opened a 2:37 lead. By the summit of Coll de Cabús, they had taken control of the general classification and maintained their advantage to the finish.

“Yesterday we lost time with a mechanical,” said Wüst. “Today we said: no risk, no fun.” Van Doorn added: “We didn’t know the gap, so we just kept pushing. Tomorrow’s the toughest stage, and anything can happen.”

1VISION’s Daubermann and Noyman finished third and hold the same spot overall. Ila Stow and Laura Stark lost ground in the podium battle.

In the men’s race, no major gaps formed. Singer KTM and TRINITY Racing set the pace, but Buff Megamo 2 and Klimatiza Orbea always responded. “We tried to make a move over the top of the first climb but couldn’t break away,” said Stiebjahn.

Four teams crested Coll de Cabús together. A slight gap formed on the descent, but it came down to a sprint between Buff Megamo, Klimatiza Orbea, and Singer KTM, who took the win. TRINITY’s English and Ronnestad finished fourth and moved up to sixth overall.

Despite missing the win, Klimatiza Orbea's Gesche remains optimistic: “We’re learning how to race together. Tomorrow’s Queen Stage suits us, and we’re ready to make a difference.”

Stage 3, the Queen Stage, covers 63km and 2,390m of climbing. Starting in Canillo, teams face a relentless ascent past Soldeu to the race’s high point, Tossa de Llosada at 2,560m, before descending and tackling the final climb over Coll de l’Estall and back to La Massana.
